001: Timespace

Before the universe existed there was nothing.

There was no space. There was no time.

This explosion was not the kind that destroys, but the kind that creates.

There was once nothing, then an environment was set:

Space:

First the Simulation was created. We created boundaries for you to exist in.

Time:

There also wasn’t time. We can’t really say “Before the universe, there was no time.”

If there was no time, there was no “before” either.

Exercise:

Close your eyes and try to imagine Time, Space, and Beyond:

Level I : exploration

in your chair right now, close your eyes and take 5 -10 deep breaths. Examine the feeling of being in time and space.

  • What does it feel like to exist in space?
  • What does it feel like to move through time?
  • What does the space you’re in “feel” like?
  • Imagine time “ending.” What would that be like?
  • Try to imagine the Nothing before time and space.
  • How is “infinite space” different than “no space” in your mind?

Level II – experience

Intentionally (with attention active) set the time and space for this exercise. Try to explore the feeling of being present in time and space.

With each step, try to direct your attention and deeply imagine and experience time and space :

  • Find a beautiful, natural setting for this exercise. (If you can find a place where you cannot see anything man-made it is best)
  • take 3-5 slow deep focused breaths and relax enjoying the space you’re in. Try to balance your attention Like the exploration.
  • Return to normal, passive breathing. Close your eyes and explore and experience the “feeling” of being in space and traveling through time. For 3-5 minutes (or 10-20 breaths) and try to calm, relaxing breaths to explore this experience.
  • Next, imagine there was no time, no space, no light, no darkness, no air, no planets, no matter- just you floating in space. What would that be like?
  • with your last 10-20 breaths- Imagine you have no body, no air, no planet, no universe. This probably will be very difficult to do at first.

Level II – enrich

… there is no way to Imagine it. But, we do have a lot of proof for it.

On earth it kept going. The same force that pulled energy into atoms and atoms into planets pulled matter into such a constant dance that it began to dance by itself. Water.

Water, matter, and light are soon combined to form the earliest life in a mysterious dance, inanimate materials come together with cooperating forces and life begins.

Soon cells gather and make swimming creatures, then crawling creatures, and then walking creatures. Primates.

Then Humans emerged.

Humans are made the same way as the animals. The General Population believes this, and so do most atheistic scientists and devout believers. Humans are different because they are conscious. But it is very difficult to explain what consciousness is, but apparently we all agree it’s the source of meaning, logic, and Love. I’ll give scientific research, spiritual practices, and exercises you can try for yourself and see what happens in the course.

Bottom line, your consciousness is what would move if you “woke up in a different body.”

Exactly WHAT woke up in a new body, if your consciousness is in the old brain?

NOTES———————————–

Are you the molecules thinking or the thought? in thoughtless wonder? When you’re dumbfounded? When you’re

When you’re rocking out in the car on the way to school, work, or gym- Religion calls it soul. Art calls it creativity. Romantics call it love.

“sentience.” One of the earliest ways of expressing this idea is “I think therefore I am.” We are not *just* an animal that gets hungry, cries, and “communicates” the way that our pets can. We know there’s something different about humans and animals, but it’s very difficult to explain.

Gravity is exactly the same. We can explain it now, but we used to just say “what goes up must come down.” just like religion said “eating Pork

escartes said “I think therefore I am.” and I suggest as an argument that I am before I think. At that point there’s not thinking. Pure observing, Do you cease to exist, or are you still there?

it’s the one driving the car.

I read a book named “Ishmael” that really helped me think this through. I highly recommend it if you enjoy reading. I’ll probably have book reviews soon.
